Chrome Door Hinges - To Suit Clubbie (Not boot hinges, but door hinges)

Do they exist ?

If so, where can I get them and what might a rough price be ?

Might work out cheaper to buff the paint off a steel set, then get them chromed or whatever yourself.

These things actually are cast iron, NOT steel.
And unlike the Clubby LOCKS, they are not burstproof.... I know this `coz the LH door fell off my son's Clubby in a head-on.

<edited> to make sense....

I hate sentences like that. Cause I read them ten times and still can't work it out!

I've got to be honest here....I still can't work that sentence out.
Could you please rephrase it without the words 'unlike' and 'not'?

OK just for you, Harley-
Clubby doorlocks are supposedly burstproof. An ADR requirement. I merely stated the hinges are not (burstproof) though, they are brittle (cast iron) and can break!

OK I'm with you now.
So are the alloy hinges (more or less?) burstproof?
Sorry, the brain just isn't switched on tonight. :D

Never seen alloy ones, but I'd be a bit worried about corrosion bolted to a steel panel...

Maxi, for $140 you could get a nickel plating kit, & Bling them yourself...
see http://www.janekits.com.au/
I got a Nickel & Zinc one, not used it yet though.

I've got a set on my car (roundnose but all oz hinges were the same anyway). Its all nice and pretty till the time comes to replace the bush and pin - then its 1) a pain to remove the chromed pin b) a major pain rechroming the whole thing or just the tip of the new pin so that it matches the chrome etc..

Kevin

I clearly understand how the door came off - but would you describe in a little more detail the dynamics of the incident.

I am a little concerned and suprised that no mini or government institution has picked up on it.

Probably - over the years - more minis have been destroyed on race tracks than anywhere else and I must admit I have fortunately neverseen this happen.

Its jst aroused my curiosity thats all - no deeper agenda

Mike I have no digi pics of it, but the car had a head-on with a Camry on Peter Meadows Rd, Kentlyn.
Every panel got bent except the bootlid.
The door hinges both sheared thru the hole in the centre tongue.
