mini 022 d2si mo9/ 17585

and the other one is all numbers no letters.. does the d2si mean its an S this is what the RTA told me.. just thought id ask the experts. Thanks..

No they are full of crap- the `S' appears in various other Clubbies besides the Mini S.
S = Sedan, V = Van. usually.....
eg 021X2S1M09 is a Leyland Mini sedan.

I have a genuine 1976 " S" and its vin number is 022D2S1M0920866.
The S came with flares and a tacho and you should have the letter "s" on the grill and boot lid.

Clubby S had chrome round the front windows, the stock Clubby did not.
S also had 4.5Jx10 wheels and the brake drums had the wide `spacer' type drums, stock Clubby had flat drums.
Our Clubby S also has a heated rear window, but it's a very late one.

mine does not have the chrome around the front windows or the rear heater.
Doc your right again about the brake drums.
Maybe the chrome around front windows was also on later clubbys.
I know its a genuine S as I have all theorignal paper work and log books off the original owner

I've never seen a Clubby S without the window chrome on the front doors. Maybe it was removed for painting, it's hard to get back on without stuffing it up... or perhaps it's a real early one.

Sorry Doc misunderstood you,i thought you meant the front windscreen like the holdens had covering the windscreen rubber.
Yes mine does have the chrome strips around the door windows.
Good old Doc right again, never doubt the Doc.

After thirty odd years the value is related to its condition - its probably not worth more than an equivalent non S clubbie and most dont know or care about the differences.

Mini enthusiasts do but they are usally fairly fastidious buyers and if Ausmini is any indication, fairly frugal buyers.

They really aren't worth more than an equivalent non-S clubby...Mine is an S, Leyland just flogged the S from the cooper S fame in an attempt to make more sales..
