It is `normal' to lose approx 1/2 the top tank out the overflow with a 1275 particularly. People have whinged about this ever since the 1275S came out.
Water expands when heated, if you fill it to the brim it has to go somewhere.
Later Clubby radiators had a `level' mark inside, below the neck. It's about 1/2 way up, funny that.
Bear in mind at operating temp the rad is actually full, each time you warm it up it just expels the air out of the tank as the water expands.
If you are paranoid about it, fit a Moke overflow header tank setup. Or a plastic tank off a Jap car and a recovery type cap.
