This mostly happens because the ignition timing is wrong for the fuel type, causing more throttle opening at idle to make the engine idle OK. You need less throttle angle and more ignition timing at ilde to stop the problem (all other things being Ok - like spark plugs for instance). Modern unleaded fuels are crap so the manual settings are ineffective and obsolete. KC |

waht keith siad is true, i would also check the idle and fuel mixtures as timing is only one part of the equation and if your idle is too high or its running too rich it will also run on a fraction. many different things can cause this but get it onto a dyno is the easiest way to getting it set up correctly, that way you will know its good. |

Just back off the idle setting on the carbs to mae it idle lower, check your points gap is sweet & then re-time the ign at that ...& then see what happens you may even have to drop the idle setting some more after that. |
