Some of you have come across little miss Rodney on this forum - goes by the name of Shermn or something like.

Anyway, the engine from her Mini has a worn key way in the crank. I've pulled the crankshaft out of my old engine - all but one of the areas where there were bearings (big end and main) are nice and clean, and the bearings too look good. I should be able to clean up the little bit of scratching on the one "suss" big end.

Question - should I machine the crankshaft and get oversize bearings??

See ya

You need to measure them with a micrometer, ot take to a crank grinder for quote, and they will.
They won't grind if it doesn't need it.
I get mine ground if there is more than .0005" (1/2 a thou) of taper or ovality.

If it's a common old Mini crank I'd simply find another as you have done.

Not worth the hassle to fix it.

If it was worth big bux like an S one, yes there are ways to reclaim it but they cost $$.
