Tell us what the car is (model and year) and the number of the casting on the front of the gearbox - then we will have a go at it.

Also tell us the gear change type.

If the gearbox has been rebuilt amnd or fitted with different ratios or diffs we wont know that but tell us what you know and we will try anyway

my car is a 1963 morris 850. it has got the correct type of gearbox (magic wand. no syncro on first) i was just wanting to know if there was a way to tell if the gearbox was the one that the car left the factory with. is there any numbers that are suppose to match with the numbers of another item, ie: engine number? or is there no way of telling? thanks for the help

Individual numbers were not given to gearboxes. It was simply a generic type number and you know now that you have the right sort of period gearbox.
