Trying to undo a bolt in my empty engine bay, the spanner slipped off and i sent my thumb into a sharp edge "did not think that blood could spurt from your thumb but it can  "
so its off to the doctors for a shot "hands were pretty greasy" So I cant be the only one ,who else has a good mini injury story

Doing panel work with the oxy on the mini floor when neighbours dog tried to jump in , I dropped the filler rod and grabbed the dog with my left hand . Smelt something burnt and thought the dog must have got singed , looked down and saw my left index finger was red and starting to blister ..... Barely felt it but ran the oxy torch straight across it , not much scarring but limited feeling along the top now , didn't hurt much afterwards either . Gotta love a good burn . |

The most annoying injuries I get is from working in the engine bay and getting cuts and scrapes all up my arm from shart hose clips  Esp when reaching in the engine bay to adjust the clutch or something like that. Next day my right arm looks like it has been attacked by a ferral cat of some sort

A few scaps cuts nics and dirty hands are fine better toughen up or you'll be sending yourself off to the doctors every 5 minutes. As Chong says after a day under the bonnet your arms will look like your done 10 rounds with an alley cat. One booster and you'll be right for years. Stick a band aid on it and in a very short time it would have come off with more greese and the cut will be sealed with dirt. When washing up in petrol at the end of the day it'll sting abit but thats the joys of working on motors. steve |

Bandaid?!! Nah just wrap some black electrical tape around it and continue on, must be black though.

um.. well i once got this big fat bruise.. (yes it was relly big and unattractive) from trying to undo the sump plug! i was sort of squatting but sort of on my knees and i put all my might into the ratchet to try and unscrew it but i slipped.. and arm goes *BANG* against the numberplate and the bumper and whatever else is around there ouch!

Working on my car in Gafmo's garage about a year ago (thanks gafmo) and wearing the obligatory gafmo protective footwear - ie nothing. The floor was covered with little wires off the drill mounted wire wheels we used to clean the gearbox casing and gafmo uses to polish stuff (the dude does bling stuff alot). One of them went deep into my foot on the side - surprisingly painful and I got stung with them in my ass and hands before but not that deep. Anyways stoped the bleeding and forgot about the whole thing - two months later it got infected, hardened and I had to go through 4 applications of liquid nitrogen to freeze burn the sucker out. If anyone ever had infected skin frozen off you'd know its bloody painful for days afterwards. Having it on my foot meant it'd hurt whenever I'd walk. Oh and lying under the car and catching my lip on a dmaged tip of a gearbox fin - a bit off the fin was brocken and formed a sharp hook like shape which caught and cut my lip . I looked like somebody has smacked me in the lip and it didnt go away for two weeks. |

FFS! Don't use petrol! If it ignites, it's good night nurse. It burns hot, flashes fast, you'll go up like a roman candle. Do not use it! Plus it is carcinogenic, and is absorbed through the skin. When you're next at the safety equipment suppliers, or BOC Gases or whatever, buy a big tin of hand cleaner. They have all sorts, including types with pumice in them for scouring action and about NZ$20. They last a long long time and work very well. |

A few stitches in the wrist after the catch on the quarter vent window snapped of whilst trying to loosen it. Theres also the numerous hits to the head from the catch on the bonnet, I always forget about that one. |
