Where abouts are the numbers printed for an engine for a mini leyland 1975 model? I can't seem to find them. Any help would be much appreciated.

On top of block, little pad below #1 spark plug (fan end).
Probably got paint on it...

Is it stamped? I think it has a mixture of grease and paint on it.

It would have originally been stamped when it was an unpainted block (I think it was before assembly) and then painted over . If the previous owners painted over the original paint or if the blocks been decked or all of the above it will be very faint or missing completely . There should be a rather obvious space sticking out from under the head below number 1 spark plug , give it a good wipe and look with a really bright light .

EDIT SOme imported mini motors had a plate rivetted on with a large rivet at each end of the little number area , if there are 2 holes , 1 at each end of the place and no number then there is a chance the plate hass been removed and there is no number but I'd be 98% sure the number will be there .

RTA (and all states I think) insist that the number is STAMPED there not just a rivetted plate. They know we have villains in our midst...
