Hi all... anyone know of a way to restore stainless steel (grille & overriders) to a nice mirror finish after its become dull and hazy? I've gone at them a bit with autosol and some of that eagle one wadding polish, but they don't seem to achieve anything.

I use a polish called "Purple" which is from America. All the Hot Rod cars seem to use it.

Is that for keeping shiny stainless in good condition or for restoring dull ss?

can you get mop attachments for angle grinders? would that work? I don't have a grinder and i reckon a hand-held one would be easier to borrow (or cheaper to buy). I was hoping there'd be some magic product that would bring the shine back by hand :)

sounds good i'll give that a try since autosol wasn't doing much. any ideas where you get it from? supercheap? repco?
failing that i'll find myself a grinder and mop...

I've tried using kitchen appliance SS cleaner, and it does work! it's a cleaner more than a buff so it would remove alot of crap with a good cloth and elbow grease. It did for my bling bling bits. But yeah power buffing would beat that anyday...

Not sure if its what I tried, but I think I tried Brasso or Silvo on a small section of my front bumper, worked a treat.

Not sure where you would get Purple from. The place where I get my NicoShine done sells it but other than that I have never seen at anywhere else.

my father-in-law's a spray painter and couple of years ago he was working in a truck paint shop, and i remember he was talking about stuff they used on the aluminium fuel tanks and bullbars to bring them up like chrome - he probably still has some of it - would that be the same sort of stuff you're talking about?
