Went up to Gosford on Friday (unfortunately not under nice circumstances - had to visit my Sister in Hospital).

I thought though, that I could make a positive out of a negative and I took the mini for a spin. I went up the freeway as I didn't want to miss visiting hours, but on the way back I wasn't in so much of a hurry so I went for a blast down the old road for the first time in a long time.

I love that road. It was an awesome time to do it as I just about had it to myself. I only passed one car between the Reptile park and the first cafe (Can't remember the name, not PITS, the other one).

I unfortunately took a wrong turn and did one stint back on the freeway byt got back off at Brooklyn and blasted my way to Hornsby.

If anyone's interested I might like to take a couple of adventurous souls for a spin up there in a coupla weeks - similar time so the road is empty - maybe even a week night.

I won't organise it as an official thing as I think a group of only 4 or 5 cars would be best - too many would attract too much attention (not that we'd be breaking any road rules  )

Pie In The Sky might be the cafe you are talking about?!?

I did the Old Pac Hwy from Hornsby to Gosford and back over Xmas holidays. DID NOT SEE ANOTHER CAR the whole run...only bikes and cyclists.

BLOODY AWESOME MINI ROAD!! ... and GREAT pies from Pie in the Sky! mmmm.....

I love throwing those up in meetings where wanky manager types keep crapping on about KPI's and KLA's and other such crap. I pipe up and say we need to implement some more TLA's and just watch them nod as nobody ever wants to admit they don't know what something is!!

Bob, that old Pacific Hwy north of the river is nice but is often crawling with cops, speed limit is down to 60KMH now after another couple of bikers rubbed themselves out.

Hasn't slowed THEM down though- the wankers still sail past you across double lines and around blind corners, at 2x or 3x the legal speed.
Never a cop about when you need one.

Old Pac is an awesome drive :)

usually use it on sydney to coast cruises.

I know a group of drivers that run it LATE at night once a week in their cars (not mini's) and give it a good thrashing. Only one person has been booked once so far.

Doc,

I thought the same thing, but I had a great blast while still being careful. I didn't pass a car between Gosford and Mt White, and only passed about 4 (in either direction) between Brooklyn and Hornsby.

I treat all other cars as Cops until I see otherwise, and limit my straight line speed, preferring to nail it around corners - that's where the fun is anyway

You can have fun without being stupid (No, really!!)

I'll be doing it again in a coupla weeks I reckon - I'll let you guys know in case anyone wants to join me 8)

ETLA. thats a four letter acromyn. I don't get it.

I think the cafe is called road warriors at Mt white. the bit of road you missed is nice, but its all 60 zone, so you probably did the best thing.

Best bit of the hwy IMO is south of the river, from Brooklyn up to Pie in the Sky at top of the hill. :P
It is AWESOME, and 80kmh limit too. OK so it's low, but it beats 60...
