I saw a pro do it years ago, and have been using the same method since then. Mix your paint to the correct ratio (paint:thinner) and use a very fine art brush. Dip the brush and touch it onto the chip, allowing ONE drop to pass from the brush onto the chip. It should fill the chip with paint, and probably look like it has put too much paint on. As it dries the thinner evaporates out and the chip should be filled with paint, and appear flush with the rest of the duco. You will need to polish it after a day or so. In some cases you can very lightly cut it back with wet / dry paper and buff it. For scratches do the same, but instead of just touching the brush tip on the chip, lightly drag it along the scratch as you touch it. That way you fill the scratch in the same fashion as a chip. If you are able to buy pre mixed paint in an aerosol tin (eg: Holts brand) just spray into the cap and dip the brush into this. I have used all of these methods and I swear by them! |
