I have a good uncraked blinker shroud for a early mini, with the flashing blinker end thingy, the shroud has lost its gloss over the years & is now very flat, anybody know of any products that can bring the lustre back to the plastic?

Any advice is welcome.

Try silicon spray. It doesn't last for ever, but it should put a bit of gloss on it for quite a while. I wouldn't bother trying to get any deeper scratches out of it, as it will probably end with loads of fine scratches over the whole thing which will look much worse and be harder to hide.

Put it in the dishwasher.

Try and find somewone in the RAAF, they have some great stuff they use to clean and polish the fighter jet sreens, anyone from Wagga or Richmond or whatever, i was given a small bottle of it years ago and it worked a treat on plastic windows

Doogie I am trying to remember exactly how I revived mine I think I got it really smooth with 0000 grade steel wool with brasso.then i used a buffing wheel which bought it up to shiny matt, then I polished it using ... Wait for it ... the palm of my hand (here come the jokes ) have a look at mine next time you see it it looks pretty close to new. By the way I bought this item off you at the Panania ? swap meet.

Brasso is the winner. I do all mine with brasso and when the shine is restored a couple of goes with a good polish so if you have meguires that will do

The guys have it right, use some 1200 wet and dry followed with a good buff using brasso. I've done it a few times and its always come up a treat.

AFTER I had purchased a new plastic headlight for the Ford to pass roadworthy I was told to buff up old plastic with tooth paste and 1000 grit wet n dry then polish with a silicone polish. - Next time

K+H Gelcoat restorer works wonders on anything plastic and buffs up really well

get it from boat shops or fibreglass suppliers

toothpaste is also a fantastic fine polishing compound

jap importers sell stuff that brings back the lustre of plastic, it's really good. they carry it for the Jap plastic imports lenses go opaque with age, I think it's reasonably priced. but just putting it out there for you.

I use a plasic cleaner called plexus, it's origin was at nasa, or Aircraft. It's awesome, even get's scratched cd's to play

the other alternative is some of the CD scratch repair stuff. just don't try and put your blinker in the garage sterio when your done.

the toothpaste works, but in my experience the ones I use are a bit better.

try toothpaste, all mini's have their inperfections, that gives them character

Turtle Wax isn't too bad either.

I have restored many plastic parts by first sanding by wet sanding with 1200, 1500, 2000 grit and then polishing with Meguir's or Mother's Mag/Aluminum wheel polish. Works beautifully.
