Hi all! Not a very challenging Q but an intriguing one... ![]() I'm getting a bit of pressure from friends to name the Open Classic and have noticed a lot of people round here have names for their MINI's. So i was wondering, how important is a name? What about a gender??? Currently the Classic's a little confused ![]() ![]() Have a poll and if anyone has any ideas what to name the Classic, i'm open to suggestions! ![]() http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=16080&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=15 |

once you name it you can't change it. very bad mojo. my mini is called molly, she came with that name, so i thoguht it best not to change it (that was beore i found out it is bad luck if you do) and remeber a name for a mini dosen't necersarilly have to be one you call your first born, it can be a adjective, verb or a noun. not a pro-noun. but it does turn into a pro-noun once you name your mini it. (i don't know what i just said) name your mini, its lost without one |

i have not named either of my minis, never seen the need. previous owner of our 850 named it Dolly after the number plate which was DOL###. i could not carry on the name because i changed the number plate to a historic one, and my friend had a triumph dolomite sprint called dolly. does not mean that i don't appreciate others naming theirs though my sister has never had a mini, but has named all of her cars very creatively. 1986 red corolla auto = the red baron (obvious) 1989 white laser tx3 (borrowed from my wife while we were o/s) = thumper (named after the rabbit in bambi, and because the performance was way better than the red baron) 1998 yellow hyundai excel = buzz (yellow = bee = buzz, complete with retinue of buzz lightyear paraphernalia) so you can see that simply naming the car leads to all sorts of other things, like Chris getting all sorts of elmo gear etc. so the name has to be chosen carefully so you get the right vibe. michael |

Thanx, Michael! ![]() Well, my new number plate is TZS-019... Little bit rude to name it after those, isn't it? ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I think names for cars is great for character, it sort of builds on the already plentiful character a mini has and can also personalise the car without spending $$$. After four or so months I still haven't come up for a name for 'my 850' *current name ![]() One day something will come to me, one day. Shard |

Not sure if the changing the name thing is quite right - you see it already has a name it was given one at the factory. All cars were, In fact it was named before it was even made. In your case it is "Rover" but who want's to be named after a dog? Mini owner's are a funny lot - fiercely independent and absolutely confident that their car is unique, "Not another one like it!" despite the 16 million, trillion, gumpsillion of them made. The name just adds to that uniqueness - so pick a good one. ![]() |

Mini with gender issues Its a woody but alot of wooddies are called well der woodie, All the others were easy but as the woody was driven back from Canberra and now sits going nowhere fast and we haven't bonded yet. My father Big Daddy Bruce or Bruizer bought us the K van hence Bruizer Dorothy is named after the first owner Mrs Dorothy Lawn who we boughht the car off. Queenie was sold in London by Carmart Austin Dealer to the Royal Muse hence Austin has a royal warrent and carmart had a royal warrent so she has two royal warrents in each door sil very flash. A best mate wanted me to call a car Elvis after the king and she wouldn't let up so the elf got Elfis and sadly yes he has left the building (written off last year) My MG is Di after the lovely Diane we bought it off she could have sold snow to eskimos I like names if they come easily. I'm sure once the woody is registered a name will come along steve |

Well, WhoDat, considering that mine IS one of 1000, i'm a bit safer than the Quote: 16 million, trillion, gumpsillion others out there! ![]() And i reckon you might be onto something, Steve. Naming your Mini after the previous owner makes it easy AND solves the gender issue! ![]() |
