A friend has just had to replace his HI/LO horn combination because both were open circuit/would not pass any electrical current. The adjustment nut is for the tone? Has anyone sussed out these mysterious devices??? Can you get inside them and do repairs? Meep! Meep!

These things work on a vibrator principle- the nut sets the gap if I remember correctly. Screw it one way or the other until it goes "BlaaaaaaaaaaaaaH" reliably. If it doesn't work, toss it... get some air horns..
