hi all
my daughters 1972 cluban wont go into gear when the engine is running, we have taken out the clutch it looked ok but we replaced it anyway, so what does that leave the hydraulics????
If anyone has any ideas please can u call me on 0421656365 we is desperate she wants her mini back on the road not a happy mini driver at the mo lol

Hi Joanne, update your profile so we know where you are. Maybe someone close can have a look for you.

It will most likely be hydraulic related, you need to check the adjustment, fluid level, and the master and slave cylinders. Also worth a check is all the clevis pins that join the pedal and clutch arm.

Take it step by step eliminating each possible problem.

It could also be idler gear or primary gear related, but check out all of the above first.

In some cases (like I experienced) the idler gear does not have enough end float, and the common sympton is difficult or non existant gear change.

most probly a """ lack of travel problem""", check all adjustments & clevis pins for wear & also rip the clutch arm out & check the condition of the ball on the bottom & corresponding wear point in the carrier too, etc etc etc

clevis pin wear at the bottom of the master cyl push rod & wear in the push rod itself is very common & also a little tricky to get to at times

thern if it`s still not a happy camper, let us know & we can guide you from there
