How did you all come across your Mini?

My Mini encounters are as follows:

1: 1964 850 Mini (Sold) - Was rescued from a rental property backyard. Previous tenants were into Mini's but left the 850 behind. Sat there for over a year when I decided to leave a note when a "for sale" sign went up on the house. Owner of the property wanted it gone so I happily brought it :D

2: 1968 Morris Mini Matic - Many of you may have seen the thread and pics "Out and about" that's my Mini :D was at work one day and received a call from my dad saying "one of his mates next door neighbour" has a mini in his shed. I was after one that had a nice straight body, being optimistic went and inspected it. When the previous owner opened the garage door my face was :D car was exactly what I was looking for, although it still required alot of work at the time (paint, mechanical). It was a 3owner car with original books & paper work. Bought the car on the spot.

There's been a couple of donor Mini's as well.

1. '68 Deluxe (Now Sold On)
A friends uncle was selling it. I saw it and fell in love, got a bank loan to get it...silly me. Never got rego'd while I owned it. Sold it for a loss. Live and Learn. :)

2. '72 Clubbie (Sold)
Saw it on side of road. Owned it within a week of seeing it. What a mistake that was...

3. '7? Clubbie Van (Stripped)
Bought with Kazjim to strip from a dude that lives in the sticks.....we named this clubbie 'druggie clubbie'......

4. '76 Clubbie (Be Completed)
Saw it on here for $350. Took a look. Went OMG I want it. Rolled it into Kazjims garage down the hill the following weekend. So Far So Good with this one!!

god i have such a dirty mind...

Mine belonged to a old chap who worked at one of the orchards on my road, i saw it there the first day i moved into my house and thought... mmm.. nah... it's a bit tatty and i don't really like the stripe. But everyday i looked at it i started to like it more and more, and when i finally decided i wanted it, i noticed he had started to drive a telstar to work :o

so i asked him what he was going to do with the mini he said, probably sell it, i say how much , he says about $500, i say SOLD!

:)

My first 2 clubbies were sourced from an ad in the tradin post, the 850 was seen on
either carpoint or drive.com (don't remember which one :D ).
One car I had (only for about a week) was found in the trading post as well.
It's a gold mine if you know when and where to look! :D

NAV came about through my best mate who drove into a servo to fill up and the owner (of the station) came out and said do you want another one of those? for free!
Ian (my mate) initially said no (too many mini's) but then thought it would be good for spares and this is what he saw

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y224/m_colman/NAV/MiniVan_0014.jpg
He thought it was too good for a parts car plus knowing i wanted a mini he rang me and said I now own a mini and come and get it. after $1,000 work to get it roadworthy we ended up with
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y224/m_colman/NAV/Mini_van_0000.jpg
then a few more $$
