Ok Ill fill you in on the detials
Local event on a local airport runway, with 63 cars entered from lotus 7's, subaru's, commadores, vtecs, barracuda drag racers, honda's,skylines, rotories, everything (no ferraries this year but one porche) and one lonely mini, me. the smallest engine by far against the might of huge power, cubic capicity, turbos, supercharged motors and modern technology multi valve engines.
The prize for the slowest car of the day was going to be mine no doubt about that and the prize last year was a $1000 sound system and the year before was also something big cos its all about fun.
All i had to do was head down a 1/8mile strip as fast as i could, shouldnt be a hassle.

I lined up against a mazda 626 to start with and decided that i wont look like i was left behind by too far, but somehow a barracuda squeezed into the line ahead and threw the order out so i go to race against a legacy turbo thing with 4wd written down the side of it, damn i was going to get crucifed and look slower than i had anticipated. tyhe clutch felt a bit funny on the car and i thought nothing of it as we got closer to the line.
eventually it was him verses me at the staging lights.
They dont hang around those lights, stage light on 2nd light on 3rd light on green light on and i slammed my foot down and headed off (i should have headed off on the 2nd light really, just like he did) but hey the best run in the world is no good if you false start it, 2nd gear came in just after 7500rpm had been pushed i started to close in on this guy really quickly, but the race was over and i recon if the track was a 400m track i would have eaten him up, but i also hear he had a flase start so first win to a mini.
I got to the bakc of the line up and the long wait started, there was a little starlet turbo thing there that said that was a great racet o me would i like to try it on, yeah why not i felt confident i could give him a run but the clutch was becoming a real issue now and the motor was stalling on the clutch pressue, it was now thrusts giving up the ghost. But i was pushed right ot the front of the grid due to having a neck brace (compulsary now for all drag racing over here), I went ot the front and a lotus 7 was waiting for me, ok now im goin to get my arse kicked, after struggling to get the car onto the stagin lights i droppped the clutch to hear it start riding and slipping but hey he didnt get too far infront and finsihed just.
I decided it was time to pit and have a closer look. yep my worst fear thrust issues i called it a day.
when they had finished doing the drags and went onto the knock outs in timed groups.
I had a look at my times and with a time of 10.2 i was in the top 30 cars.
i was impressed i had beaten vtechs, MR2's commadores, stalets,V8's and almost every other road car imaginable.
I was on cloud nine and i was then told my trap speed was 125kph i was even more impressed as i had only just hit 3rd gear goin over the lines.

I will take the motor out again today and have a look at the damage done to the crank as there is a $15000 tournament on in 2 weeks time and i have been asked by the organiser to please take my mini im really keen and would love to go but it will be a financial thing.
If anyone has any ideas on how to get some $'s so i can go and compete against jappas etc in a DYO competition i should be running a mid 14 second run on the track and with slicks being used who knows what i can run.

Like i said a good day racing is better than ?????????

I dunno, i have just pulled the motor down today and am taling the crank into my engineer in the morning to have the thrust surface reground as it did score it but not too bad at all.
Ill redo the bearings while im at it.
That im not worried about.
What im lookingf or is a place to crash my head and maybe a fuel cost and entry.
So $10million should cover it.
no only kidding, about $150 will cover it and i can then get stuck into getting the motor ready.
I have also discovered what the splutter was at 7000rpm and after a quick test this moring it was clean around to 9200rpm.
Im glad that i dont have the dyno cost now.
I have been the talk of town today with about 6 people telling me that they were upset being beaten by a BLOODY mini. hahahaha.

only some odd black ones and a set of sportspack but they will need some work on them.
Actually they would cover the costs.
I just spoke to GR and he has given me an idea to prevent the thrusts going again with such a big heavy clutch spring.

I put an orange plate in this time and set the clutch spring level when clamped. it grips well, pedal effort is now less than before with the blue dot S one. :D
See Marcel Chichak's clutch setup info here- http://www.minimania.com/web/DisplayID/ ... ticleV.cfm
