Basically (talking Aus production only): All Mini sedans (850, early Cooper, Mini-Minor) to 1965 - Dry All Mini sedans from 1965 to mid-1974 (Deluxe, K, Cooper and S, Clumbman) - Wet All Mini Clubmans from mid-1974 - Dry again. All vans and mokes regardless of year - Dry. Cheers, |

Morris `Mini Minor' (850cc) from 1965- 1967? was dry too. And the Coopers here were all dry, the 998 Cooper was dropped when the Mini Deluxe started in 1965. Oz Cooper S was wet until end of model in 1971. <edit> pretty sure hydro went to dry in 1973. |

Thanks for the reply, that is very helpful. Would anyone care to discuss the different pro's and con's of dry and wet suspenion setups for different purposes? |

There was the Mini 1100 (Clubman shape) that was dry as well. It was the cheap model. Dry is lighter. Wet is softer. They all need work after 30 years. You can buy new rubber springs for dry but you can't get new Hydro units. |

Hydros ride nice, they still handle good, 5,000+ Oz Cooper Ss can't be wrong. Many hydro Minis have been butchered to dry suspension, in the belief they will handle better, and be supposedly more reliable.. My hydro is now 36 years old, and still has original displacers and pipes. No leaks... ![]() BTW we have a couple of dry ones too- one was a hydro, now converted to dry, with Hi-Los and Koni shocks. No it certainly doesn't handle better, just pitches more at low speed and understeers more too. ![]() <edit> sure you can't buy new hydro bags any more, but I have 4 S/H in case. May never need `em... ![]() |

Actually most made here were a Mini K shell, hydro, but with the mighty 998 auto of course. September 1968 New: Mini Deluxe Auto Mark II March 1969 New: Mini Deluxe Mark II K (Mini K) Anybody know when `matic production stopped? Not listed in any of the timelines. Yes Clubby GT here was hydro, it was a Cooper S dressed in drag...haha |

Clubman GT's are early Clubmans (72), which were Hydro. ![]() I prefer hydro myself, the dry suspension ride is too harsh for a daily driver. But none of my current Minis are hydro. ![]() |
