Hmmm , how did 727's ever get off the ground then if that's how they accelerated ? There are some good adverts for mini's surfacing and some really wierd ideas for what they thought was a saleable idea .....

They may have had some strange ideas, but at least it was a good cheap, fun small car that could sell itself. Now look what they try to pass of as a Mini, good thing the new Mini has good advertising. Even though alot of it is just playing off the original car the proved itself. How else would they sell it? I've driven a couple new Cooper S's and although they are decent cars they are not Minis. It's just like driving a Civic or a VW Goof only a little more funky. For the price of these cars I would expect them to be alot better or at least not have a Chrysler based engine. And they really need more power. Hopefully the second generation Mini will have more power with it's BMW engine. Too bad it's going to be even bigger. I bet we can thank the americans for that they won't buy them if they are too small because they are scared. Meanwhile the rest of the earths population understands that small cars make sense and can be safe to drive if you pay attention while you are at the wheel.

that's exactly what i've been saying for some time...the bini is only successful/popular coz its cashing in on the cult following the mini has...its a good car (FAR superior in convenience and performance to the mini...but its a modern car...i doubt automotive perfection was attained in 1959)...but for $45,000 i can think of MANY much more appealing options than the bini...

I just wonder how many of these supposed new tech cars will be around when they are 40 years of age or even 20 YO for that matter :D
