in the last two days my little beast has chewed like 40 bucks of petrol..... no i havent been thrashing it or driving it everywhere????? can i miss on one cylinder cause this much petrol to be lost ... its a completely stocko 1100... 1.25 carb.....??? |

Fuel leak ? Running to rich ? Thats alot of fuel in two days for a stokcie running 1 1/4 inch. Wow. |

SOmething not right there , have you checked for leaks , either at the carb , in the fuel lines or the pump or the tank itself ? |

Check the oil level, and sniff it- level may be going up, not down as usual! 
If it smells of fuel, replace fuel pump- the diaphragm has a hole in it. <edit> and of course drain the oil.....

Check needle and seat in fuel bowl & float level. Although burning that much fuel it would run like a dog. |

FWIW......I dropped a stock 998 in JAM a few weeks back, with HIF38 carb (standard lean needle). Daily drivig in traffic I get 220 km / tank. When I fill up it takes 20L from E to F. So....20L gets me 220km. |

Filled up with 25L last night, got 200kms out of that  . I guess its running a little bit rich....

since monday night i am now up to 58 dollas of petrol........ i cant see any leaks anywhere and i aint absolutly thrashin it........ i will pik up a ramflow tomorrow and give it a go..... hopefully sorts out the problems |

My fuel consumption got worse about the same time I fitted the ramflow.

I can't see a new filter doing anything to improve fuel economy unless the old one was that rat crap it starving the motor of so much air that it made it run reediculously rich... Instead of $ figure for the week..how about you tell us how many km's you have done? I can use $40+ in a day without trying too hard... |
