I am about to replace my brake rotors and new pads, what is the best way to bed these in? Pete |

For non competition stuff - three or four hard stops ( not lock ups) from about 50-60 kph and then drive normally. Do put new brake fluid into the calipers though - bleed the front brakes in other words - which is not what i did today when i put new pads in my commodre in a hurry. |

Some really firm applications sure but generally, be gentle when they are brand new.... ![]() |

Do those heavy stops from 50-60k's like Mike said and you'll know they're bedding in....they stink like crap and get pretty hot. Then I just do like cushy said and do the 100k's without any screaming banzai stops. Mighn't need the whole of those 100, but it doesn't do any harm. |

I bed my minis new discs and pads in like that, the few hard stops, then careful driving... Then I had what was best described as a really bad groaning noise under braking, particularly hard braking. Brake pads were glazed ![]() Cleaned em up with emery paper and bedded them in with simple careful braking, no harsh braking for 150 odd miles, spot on! Careful with the hard braking or you will glaze the pads and the brakes won't work as well as they should! Matt |
