hey all
the clubby has sealed beam heaadlights, and i recon if i strapped a dolphin torch on the roof it would be brighter, so what are my options??

i have considered angel eyes, and then fitting big ass glabes???

any others
i have also heard of a h4 conversion or sumin??


and i dont really want spotties

H4 replacements are a good thing and its a good idea to fit a couple of relays with them to stop the switch from melting from the extra power used to run them

I second that, fit some H4 halogens, with a new era relay or similar. I also recommend upgrading the wires from the relay to the headlights.

Angel eyes are for bling and may not be legal check with your state's dept of transport or similar.

Be careful, don't put anything over 55w in angel eye's, the backing is plastic (instead of glass) and i found out the hard way and put 100w globes in and melted a hole right through it and shattered the lens

<edit> I run Hella H4's with a New-Era relay and uprated wiring and they are the brightest lights i have seen on a mini.

ok so sounds like h4s and relays are the go. so wat do i haveto get to put them in, like obviously ill need new lenses but like wat were how much cheers

I've got them too. Part # 3604/100 - about $150
You could just use the mini wiring (dodgey),
but you should really fit a headlight relay if you don't want to let the smoke out of your wires or headlight switch.

<edit> Oh, and use heavier wires on the headlight side of the relays!

I used the Subaru loom. It already has relays

Same here. I brought the Wipac Quadoptic kit in from MiniSpares a while back, cost me about $100 then. They are good.

H4 is just the type of globe used in the headlamp and you can buy many different types of light itself, Cibie,Hella even Lucas, they are all pretty much of a much and I see you live in SA and it is the state where all those lovely rover front cuts come from that have halogen lights as standard, an relay willbe fine either 2 standard relays or 1 headlight twin, the wires them selves are fine the only weakness in the system is that all the amperage was going through the dip switch which used to melt the contacts but with relays this is no longer a problem

Dont forget to clean the earth straps to metal areas - that is - you want the earth straps (x2) to be shiny metal to shiny metal - not dull metal to rust or dull metal to paint. Thats a big big cause of dull lights.

Earth Straps ??? from the battery to the boot floor and then from the clutch housing to the body.

Hafta watch the dipping when ordering, some lights dip left for England and dip right for Europe (driving on the wrong side)

I have been looking at getting a set of those angle eyes and then fitting in a h4 bi-xenon conversion kit. Has anyone else had experience with the xenon light conversions.

xenon produce a lot of heat and i certainly would not trust a set of $1000 globes in some cheap ass taiwan angel eyes
