Post subject:  1100s or 1275gt ?

Ok all, Question one in the series of a bunch.
Witch motor do i build for Lil?
The other will go into the (as yet unnamed) van
The 1100s 70.95 bore or the 1275 gt 70.6 bore motor?
1100s's rings were lightly rusted to the bore But the 1275 was blowing 500ml of oil out the pipe a week.
Both will be rebuilt (if the 1100 can be) but i need to do Lil's first so opinions please :)
Ps i'm thinking of supercharging Lil or the van so bare that in mind and sugestions on witch to charge would be nice. So i guess that was question two as well.
P.S. Three. Can 70.95 still go more?
P.P.S. Lil is in the pic and the van is in a million pices in the shed

I would pick either, and just bore it to next oversize.
Your 70.95 is an oddball size, probably it's stock with worn bore.

You can get 70.6 (std), +.020", +.040", +.060", +.094" (73.0mm), +.115" (73.5mm).

If you are going to turbo or supercharge it, I'd stick with +.040" (1310cc) ones.

Thanks doc.
The odd size could also be due to dodgy vernier's ;)

Ok all, Question four.
Were do i start?
should i get the short motor done first and then once i've picked a cam do the porting and polishing or should i go the head that's a little cheeper and then with all the motivation of having a good head do the motor?
I guess i'm asking if there are any things in doing the head that are done to match a short motor?

deside on the block first..the 1275 or the 1100..then do the head to match.
if you go the 1100 you will take more off the 940 head..less with the 1275

Get the box done first and then you can have eather motor on top of it!!

Hate to seem like a pillok (seem to be good at it though:))
But what am i taking of the head?
Skiming the face or?
I hope to put the same head that came of it back on and that was yes a 12g940
and why more on the 1100's?
Thanks though

Gafmo thinks you're talking about an 1100....haha

The 1275GT and Morris 1100S are pretty much the same thing.
If one has S rods and the small journal crank I would use that, instead of a big journal one with heavy lumps on the rod caps.
They rev better and are smoother. Ask GR... 8)

I would do the motor first, and cam, the head can come later.
A stock 940 head is pretty good anyhow if the rest is right, for a road motor.
Get a spare head and mod that, then put it on later.
