Hi all,

Having h/light trouble in the Open Classic, hence the LUCAS rant post earlier...

Any reccomendations for a company to do electrics on a 1992 Rover :?:

Thanx in advance for all assistance. :D

ignoring everything but the subject... the answer is ME - I'll swap you some wires and a couple of headlights for your mini...

to get the electrics fixed, call the mini places and ask for a recommendation... they may do them themselves...

Thanx, skssgn.

I tried one of the major companies in Vic today and had a, let me put it, "interesting" experience. No comment. :?

Am really interested in people's PERSONAL experience and knowledge of providers...

I know many people on AusMini would not entrust their Mini's to anyone but THE BEST, so i was wondering who that is... :?:

Thanx again in advance.

I also live SE Vic. And took one of the minis to AZTEC auto elec about 2 yrs back ASPENDALE, When i had alternator problems. I gave them 8 alternators to test for me (all were stuffed) so we talked about fitting a foran alternator to the mini, At the end we pulled out an 87 pulsar alternator. AZTEC charged very well and there work was top notch.
Just an option, the shop has been there forever, and the elect had a mini for a long time.

Cheers, Clubmn. Aspendale's nice and convenient.

Does anyone know if Link Automotive do electrics? I've heard a lot about them for mechanics but not electrics...

You can try these guys... Never dealt with them as i do not own a mini yet, but the people in VMCI (Vic Mini Club) often refer to them.

They're in Heidelberg.

Boho, theres an auto electrician in cheltenham, next to the iga supermarket, its the street that goes beside the TTF (THE TIRE FACTORY) place, you;ll see it, its a big shed with auto elec written on it, i cant remember the street name, will find out tho, racv credentials. should be a bit closer for you. Or if u want someone to rebuild u an alternator, talk to mini87 - Shannon.

Link do electrics but it's 70 something an hour. In the past i've had most of my electrical problems sorted out at agrade (heidelberg), they work out cheaper then the mini places as they're only thirty something an hour labour and always good for advice.

Thanx, Shard.

So it seems to be that ANY auto elec can do Mini wiring for you, just don't get mechanical stuff done by ANY mechanic, eh?

Hi there Kompressor!

Bit of both, actually...

Passenger h/light goes to parker but no further. Driver h/light goes parker, to full, to high as expected.

Also, (most prob due to passenger h/light) the High Beam warning on dash stays on but only half lit whenever full h/lights go on, and the driving lights that are connected to the high beams don't come on at all...

I've had a couple of people, icluding tpo, reckon it's a loose earth wire...?

Whadda ya think? And many thanx in advance for any assistance. :D

Hey Bohomini, it does sound like an earh issue with the left hand lamp. Have you checked all the connections at that lamp? All it takes is some crap to get between the connections and you will have issues. Also, have the driving lamps got a seperate switch on the dash somewher, or are they driven directly by the main switch.? if they are part of the main switch circuit i would disconnect them first, the driving lights i mean, then check with a test light the wires at the rh headlamp while switching from park, full, and high, , and compare what you get with the lh headlamp. If you have got the power, then either you have no earth, a poor connection, or the lamp is shot. Once you sort out the issue with the lh headlamp then i would sort out the driving lights.

Thanx heaps, Kompressor.

Seems we've all established that it's a loose earth wire. I even got a call from Matt (tpo) which was a lovely surprise and he gave me some pointers as to where to head under the hood...

Whereabouts are you? I'll have a fiddle around myself first but would you mind if i gave you a buzz if i need some help...? :D
