Can a car with club rego be re-registered as a daily driver???

You can register any car more than 30 years old on club plates once you meet the clubs requirements (I'm talking about in NSW by the way) , and then you can cancel the club rego and register it again for normal rego purposes . Once a car's on club plates it doesn't have to stay on club plates , they are both just different forms of the same thing .

Yeah , I forgot that bit , in NSW club plates are sort of classed as a year long unregisterred vehicle permit so you'd need the blue slip as you would to register any unregisterred or interstate registered vehicle .

Plates belong to the RTA and are to be returned before being sold. Plates are not to be sold with the car in NSW.

Yep, but you'll need to get another RWC to to get full rego.

You might like to hold off doing anything for a little while. The CH plate system in Vic is currently under review by Vic Roads and the AOMC. It's likely that they'll go to a system like that in SA where you will be issued with a logbook and will be able to drive the car for any purpose, but limited to 90 days per year. That gives a lot more freedom than the current system.

Keep us informed Curl....last we heard, Australia wide "seasonal registration" and any other form of concessional rego was all on the backburner.

90 times what a horrid thought, how is that giving more freedom? I don't know how different the VIC system is to NSW but 90 times is terrible. Does that include fuel and service runs or are they extras?

A nation-wide system would be too much to hope for - each state will jealously defend it's own revenue-raising enterprises. As a nation we can't even agree on a common set of road rules :roll:

The current system in Vic is very restrictive. Cars can only be used for gazzetted club outings, driving to and from workshops or for roadtesting. There is also a provision for a daily permit for any other activity that may arise.
The 90 day proposal will allow the car to be driven to work, or to go shopping, or for whatever purpose you like. I believe that more than 1 trip on each of the 90 days is allowable.

That would suit clubs such as ours -minsinthegong- as we are not a recognised club, it would mean a lot of our members would be able to club plate their cars and attend our runs, it would be great.
