Folks,

I recently bought a 74 clubman, but only got the ignition key and no other. So I've just been using a club lock as security for the time being, but would like to fix this issue.

Some questions as I'm new to minis.

Do I get a locksmith to pick the boot lock? cost ~ $50.

Should the boot lock be the same as the door lock?

Or do I need to replace both?

cheers

Hi

What area are you in.

If Sydney go to Mini Spares Padstow, you have to take the locks with you and they can match them to a key.

if you just want to check what is in the boot now, before going to a locksmith check under the rear parcel shelf. you might be suprized  some one may have cut speaker holes there like they did with mine  .

An original Clubamn of that vintage SHOULD have the same key for doors and boot. Ignition key will be different.

Nurse Mini has the right idea if you are in Sydney.

If you aren't in Sydney....well, god help you.

Hi Folks,

thanks for the advice so far.

So I guess paying $50 for a locksmith to pick it aint such a bad thing. I just wanted to make sure that originally, both boot and door were the same locks, so I don't have to get him to do one for the boot and one for the door, would end up being an expensive affair.

cheers

Where abouts are you newk ? Put your location in your profile and anyone around you may be able to offer to go and try their spare key's . I have a few mini boot/door/early ignition keys from previous mini's and I'm sure others do to .

If you live west of sydney i can do all locksmith work if not get the locksmith to make a key from the same door lock they are easy to get out and he should be able to cut a key to the code on the side of the inner barrel

the boot lock also has a code on the square shaft on the back ,sometime you need to give it a buff to read it better all door and boot codes on clubmans have 3 digits

if you dont want to spend $50 go down to your local wrecker and try some of there fuel cap keys and give it a jiggle it dosnt take much to get them open
