Okkher so a long while ago i bought a few of these, as in this auction, they are the same actually, http://cgi.ebay.com.au/MINI-CHROME-SIDE ... dZViewItem Would someone be kind and tell me, if they have once previously also purchased some, and installed them successfully, how did you go about this? They are curled up, and short of cutting them into a few pieces, i don't see that they are going tp be able to fit the car? That is all. It's a very dangerous situation

well, I've never done it myself... so you don't want my advice.... but they say you roll it on in the opposite direction to the way it's rolled up, and use something to heat it gently to get it into the tight spots..... leave it out in the sun for a while and use a hair dryer... ? or PM Steve, he'd be a genius at it I'm sure |

I thinkthe consensus is to heat them up either by some hot water in a bucket or sun or lightly with a heat gun which makes it more pliable.. You need to put them on the opposite way to the natural curve, it give it a nicer bend once on the car..kinda hard to explain though.. |

Now I remember why I like my Innocenti flares and straight black pinchweld in between.. 
Good luck. Don't leave Mini in the sun, that plastic strip shrinks.....

I used a heat gun on low temp, rolled it the opposite way to its natural curve, then underneath the moulding drilled holes through it and into the seam of the car and fitted very small pop rivets, its really the only way to hold it in place!!! Especially when u have S type flares.... its even harder!!!! Dont forget to use a big bag of patience also!!!!! |

Don't use a heat gun-Too hot!! Go see your Mum-sister or girlie friend and borrow there hair drier. Works a treat!!! Then wash your hands..

A heat gun used wisely on low heat from a distance works a lot quicker then a hairdryer. It took me 2 full days to do both sides of the car...... |

Use the heat gun - carefully.........hair dryer has a safety switch off mechanism and takes ages to do one side coz. it keeps cutting out 
Unless you have lots of time available, use the heat gun |

i had lots of issues putting these on my car a while back. everyone here is pretty much on the money, heat it up to opposite curve, when you put them on heat them up a bit too. the bastard areas are around the s flares (you have them yes?) and just above the rear wheel grease nipple cover, i actually cut the bottom away from that part on mine so i could get them on. dont do that, its hard, and they're pointy... |

I think we've all experienced the same fitting the side mouldings on. I too, had a number of issue fitting em. As previously mentioned Patience IS A MUST when fitting these. If you do use a heatgun - only on very low heat, as I found out 
They tend to "crimp up" around the wheel arches so watch-out for that. When I puchased mine, was told to leave them in the sun for a good half hour prior to fitting. They look when their on though.

i had these fitted to my 850, and when I repaired the front I removed what I could of them. They had been glued on with sikaflex. When I went for a rego check I was told that I needed to refit them as the mini now had sharp edges.... so I took the strips all off and went to another garage. |

i chucked it all in a pile of near boiling water, kept the whole pile in the water and it unrolled as I put it on. worked great |
