I have a late model clubby (1977). The vin no. is:
022X23ZM0928530

Can anyone out there (czerial) help me with some pics of number stamps on the radiator cowling?

I need to know if there was any consistency with the sequence of numbering, as in how many numbers BEFORE the gap on the plate and how many AFTER it. See image below. I'm trying to figure out EXACTLY how many didgits were stamped where.

Thanks all.

Cheers,
BC.

Yes I am! AND I found out the other day that all he got was a "small" fine for his actions. :?

Would love to get my hands (and crow bar) on him! Not worth the waste of energy though. I have my car and ALL of my parts so he can go and get **** for all I care!!

This is what his car looked like when I finished with it..

Bit sad really .... it's not the mini's fault its owner is a complete fWit!!

Thanks Peter.

That's a huge help but I would still like to see a couple of others if possible please?

Around the same vintage would be great :D

Cheers,
BC.

Looking at mine the first part of the prefix is stamped before the panel is fitted (It looks like it is resting on something)
The last part (the serial numbers) look like they are stamped after the panel is fitted to the car. The numbers have dished the unsupported panel.

Here is the panel off a late clubman..... (I have edited the number slightly) I removed the panel to fix the rust under it.

hey Skender, just before you do anything, that Vinnumber does not look correct.

It should not be 022X23ZM0928530

I think in the place of the 3 it should be an S and in the place of the Z it shoould
be a 2 (that is actually a Sunshine Vin number, but that is not an uncommon thing
to see) I will get a pic of mine posted asap. but it looks that same as morris 100s car also :wink:

Yes, it should be 022X2S2M09 28530
022 = Model Designation = Mini Clubman
X = Compliance Status Code = ADR codes
2S = Body type = 2 door saloon
2 = Quality level of trim (Clubman S)
M = Manual Gearbox
O9 = 998 motor.

Thanks for the info chris and m1100 but the BIG problem I have now is that all documentation I have on the car states the vin that I have quoted. See pic below.

Hmmm, the girl at the Ballarat Leyland dealership need new glasses!
The cars ID will be on a database (vicroads) what numbers would they have?
Do you have any old rego papers?
I would try to restore the panel with the correct numbers and not the misprinted numbers.

The detail of knowledge never ceases to amaze me!!

One more question.

How many numbers should be before the gap and how many after it? Is this the same on all cars or did it depend on how many beers the stamping guy had at lunch??

Chris - would love to see a pic of Elmo's cowling if possible? I know you don't have a digital camera but I'd be pretty surpised if you didn't have a pic of it :wink:

Cheers,
Skender.
