Im running Penzoil Street Machine 25W/50.... Just wondering if there is any thing more suitable or better performing that any 1 knows of. I know that this oil is more so for 6-8 cylinders, but thought that if it can handle the abuse of an 8 it should do well in a mini diff/gearbox/engine??? |

Do a search there has to be heaps of topics on this ![]() basic conclusion is cheap non synthetic oil is OK cause the same oil has to do the gearbox you don't want synthetic stuff as this will be too thin and is not designed for gears. ![]() |

Castrol Formula R 25W50. Under $30 per 5L at many places if you look hard enough. |

Castrol Formula R is the best oil i've used. It is now called Castrol EDGE Sport 25w50...same stuff. It's better to use a cheaper oil and change it regularly. Every 3-5000km is best. Of course changing the more expensive stuff just as often is even better. |

poeee says that it says on the Castrol Formula R bottle that, like what Hanra said about the Penzoil, it's for high powered street machines. ![]() Must make his Mini go faster then! ![]() |

Doogie Sorry but BP own Castrol and like a lot of things they now sell it from there shop fronts instead of there own brand, castrol oils have always come out of the BP like Valvoline has come out of Caltex ![]() |
