Post subject: | MINI Clubman 77 Purchasing Advice. Help! |
Im looking to purchase the above car. I have been to have a look at it. The car is in very good shape from what I can tell, runs, and is straight, but I found the following problems: 1. Boot has three rust holes, (whole boot could be rusted) 2. Doors have a little rust on bottom corner, appears to be semi surface rust but hard to tell 3. Had a small accident which has been repaired and all lines/chassis are straight etc, 4. New Windscreen needs to be put in 5. Spits a bit of oil from exhaust Im looking at changing the engine in the future anyway but im just listing what I noticed was wrong with it. Any advice on the above would help, but mainly interested in the fixing of the boot as I believe the rest is not much to worry about (correct me if Im wrong). Asking price is $700 so from what I have seen I believe this is a good deal. Cheers all, Adz. |

Is it anything to worry about? Like the rusted boot floor? Or can these things be easily fixed? |

Can be replaced by a panel shop, or plated over by yourself (if you know how to weld) Its not really a structural issue. (i'm guessing anyway ![]() Lets see some photers. |

Lift alll the carpets to check for rust, if you havent already done so. And also, open the rear side windows and check along the bottom seal for the same. Pull the seal off the flange if you must. Check that the body numbers match the plate numbers aswell. Looks like it is leaning to the drivers side..... hydrolastic suspension?????? |

If it is a 1977 it shouldnt have hydro - springs are probably collapsed. Cheap enough to replace though Hooroo Rob Forsyth Miniot!! |
