Post subject:  Temp Sender

Is there any different ones? My gauge has now decided to read high. With an AutoMeter type capillary gauge down the top tank, that was reading 180F, and the leccy temp gauge in the dash was well above half...

When i buy the sender, is there a specific one to ask for?

I've never trusted standard gauges, but i don't want the AutoMeters in the dashboard.

Yeah there are different ones, not sure what the Ohm rating for a clubman is though.

Is your fuel guage reading high as well if so it's probably the voltage regulator at the back of the instrument cluster.

RE: getting a new sender unit I just asked for a mini sender unit for a clubby at a mini place. I think it was ~$30 but some told me I got ripped off :( so less than $30

I used to raid them from the wreckers and experiment till I found the right value with a pot of boiling water...

You can also put a Variable Resister(or TRIMPOT) from Dickie Smiths in parrallel at the back of the guage and trim it down a little till you're happy. Costs 30 cents.

Nah, the fuel gauge reads fine - just the temp is confused.

I was told about $25.00, maybe they just are an expensive piece of kit.
