just changing the fuel tank over - theres some pipe coming from the top of the tank that goes under the whole tank and seems to come out at the top of the engine bay :S, what is meant to connect up to this, what is it for? sorry if its a stoopid question, im just not sure. cheers |

Probably the vapour return to the charcoal canister if your car was built betwee 75 & 78 75& 76 seem to have them even if they don't have the charcoal canister. |

yeah, its a breather for the tank - pre '75 cars just have the pipe poking out under the boot floor. Stops the fuel tank pressurising as the fuel is taken out of it, it's replaced by air sucked in through there - don't block it unless your tank cap is a breathable one |

by the sound of your regency inspection place, I'd say yeah you do.... lots of germans moved to SA after the 2nd world war - isn't there a yearly "do what we say" festival over there? give it a shot without it installed and just keep your mouth shut, if they tell you to install one, then go and borrow one from a mate... I think most people have them empty anyway |

A 72 Clubby had bugger all emissions crap, basically just a crankcase breather into the carb area and a hose on the rocker cover. No charcoal canisters, gulp valves, air pumps or the rest that late cars came with. ![]() |

No charcoal canisters, gulp valves, air pumps or the rest that late cars came with. ![]() And that is why i hope to never have my car defected. I have no emmisions crap. As we don't have the yearly rego inspection, when you do have to get it inspected they go over absolutely everything. My dads Mach 1 Mustang got knocked back when we went to rego it -we got it from vic where it was perfectly legal- and we had to jack it up, quieter exhausts, They wanted a standard inlet manifold (Not easy to find a 351C 4V manifold these days) (the second guy that checket it said "Oh, i wouldn't have worried about that")... And the dumbest thing? WRONG WINDOW CRANK WINDERS. I mean REALLY! We had to get rid of the chin spoiler, but the bonnet mount tacho was fine? Dickheads. Sorry, My Little rant for the night. |
