$2k for the box already, plus freight + import taxes.. expensive. 5 speeds are supposed to be pretty weak though arn't they? Although straight cut's gotta be fairly strong? |

Drool.... ![]() For those that have one, how loud are straight cut boxes anyway? Could you use it in a daily car or is it strictly for track days. Mini Mat reckons (according to his previous posts in regard to 5 speeds) that the 5 speeds aren't that bad as long as they are used properly, that is the 5 gear is an overdrive and should be used as such. Although I'm pretty sure the Doc doesn't rate them, somethng to do with the design. |

They are the same strength as the equivalent 4 speed - and the straight cut boxes are pretty strong. As for noise, you can certainly hear them but they are not *that* load. In a car with good sound proofing/carpets etc the sound is characterful rather than annoying. |

![]() ![]() Yeah well other people did that with Mini boxes in the past, Colotti being the first, way back when. KG Engineering in Melbourne did a 5 and a 6 speed... Mat TheMiniMan had one. ![]() |
