The shroud that goes around the steering column (the metal one that goes to the floor where the mounting brackets are attached) is loose down the bottom. All the bolts that connect the column to the dash are tight and there is no slack when I try move the steering wheel horizontal, left or right. But i can wobble the whole column up and down theres about o1-2 inches of slack. Ive noticed that the black metal shroud that covers the centre pole that the steering wheel is attached to is a larger diameter than the pole, so it moves at the bottom. Is there a rubber grommet or some kind of seal that goes inside the shroud to stop movement?

There is a nylon bushing that is maybe missing between the column and the "shroud" ...please get it fixed before you are very much older

Yeap..a bit of felt, best to soak it in some oil overnight to soften it up too.
