My clutch pedal wasn't engaging properly occasionally a few days ago so I went outside and bled the pedal today and though I might as well check the adjustment. Took off the return spring and there's no movement at all in the arm, does that mean there's no free play?

The manual i've got says make sure there's a .5mm gap but I can't pull out the arm at all (even with a screwdriver to lever it) to make the gap? The pedal pushes out the rod easily, it's just got no movement when you try and pull it by hand.

as far as im aware youre not supoosed to be able to move it by hand.

the nuts (two locked together) at the end of the arm should have a bit of give in compared to the bolt

and there should be the little gap between the arm and the screw at mid-arm

Hmm, at the moment I don't have a gap I didn't want to keep screwing the adjustment screw in too far because the clutch was engaging ok after I re-bled it. How far in is the adjustment screw supposed to go safely? Should I just leave it if it's engaging ok or is there risk that the clutch is slightly engaging if it's not going back in all the way (the engine doesn't rev at all when I took it for a test drive under acceleration).

i had that problem too

book says theres gotta be a 25thou clearance btw arm and screw.

i screwed it in until the gap was there (but this made clutch engage)
and i could not get it into gear

so i screwed it OUT until it let clutch out when i wanted,
set the two big nuts
(now theres no clearance btw arm and screw )

and its been like that for 2 months so far but drives fine
