Granted putting a hole in the RH side of my clubby cooled me to the bone(hence why I sold the RH tank!!...lol)but it is an option to give drivers more range from their cars. Why the heck not I say(especially for our geographically challenged members...  )
I sometimes wonder if I should have kept the tank but in hindsight it is going to someone for a cooper S build up so to a good home. Hooroo Rob Forsyth Miniot!! |

I had a right tank here a while ago but sold it cause its just not 850. If you want to hold more fuel get hold of an LS tank, it keeps originality and is probably cheaper. That said if he wants a dummy neck (not tank) then a bit of pvc pipe and the right petrol cap will do the job without the need for a 3 inch hole in the car.

I would only ever use a fake RH tank if I was restoring a Mini that had a hole in the RH side, but didn't have a tank (non Cooper S or Clubman GT of course). I would not cut a hole, just for a fake tank......IMHO that is pointless! I would fit a RH tank if I needed greater mileage between servo visits. |

You don't cut a hole for the fake tank. It is a neck that fits flush against the body and it is held in place with a self tapping screw. |

I've got a bunch of LH tanks with rust holes in the bottom for <$10 each. Cut the neck off one of these and fix it to the car. Genuine fill cap and it'll look the goods. Excuse to take the car to Brisbane. M |
