| Post subject: | Shock absorbers, what brands the best? |
I need some new rear shocks and was wondering what brand most people on here use, at the moment im deciding between Monroe or Pedders. Are there any better brands? Im not really interested in ajustable lowered ones just a standard well priced pair. |

I put 4x standard Monroe dampers in my LS. They seem to work just fine. Much more control in the rear when cornering hard on bumpy roads. A big improvement on having ones with all the oil spewed out  Really, there is no need on the street for spax/koni/bilstien/ohlins/whatever.

I put Pedders on front of my hydro 10 years ago- they are still good. I reckon better than Monroes. Fronts now ~$60 each, not sure about $ for rears. We have 4 new Konis on Barney, at $149 each they are good, but exxy.

I run Koni Yellow 3 way adjustable. Nice shock, I think they were $150 + each. |

Koni adjustables here too, but I only paid $435/set I think. Yellows  Nice shockies, love the Konis

you can`t go past the Kayaba (KYB) "Gas-Adjust" buy them as a set (front & rear) whack them on & never look back, but make sure they`re "GAS_ADJUST" type Konis & Spax & some others can be a bit firm for normall road use, but good for fangin/racing etc sort of "horses for courses" thing really easy-peasy

My SPAX have been great, 15 point gas adjustable, Not the cheapest shocks around tho......! |

If you are just looking at replacements, get the "YUP" "YIP" or what ever yumcha brand. They are CHEAP and not too bad from what I and a few others have found. I've got them on the back of my van and they do a 1/2 decent job. If you have a bit more to spend, get the KYB's. |

I have a full set of Koni reds(classics??)in the locker at home. I am using the Lipp brand(pommy I think) and they are really good but look cheap(I think I got them for $60 a few years back)but they have done 70000km and still gooders. Hooroo Rob Forsyth Miniot!! |

Yepp Scott they are good - I just dont like the plastic shrouds they use - found a varitable gravel pit inside them but all in all I am very happy with them. The next think I need to replace is the bloody rubber springs - getting a little on the hard side... Hooroo Rob Forsyth Miniot!! |
