Just wondering if the wiper motor (1 Speed) in my 69 Roundie is supposed to auto park, as it doesn't, and its a real pain.

Cheers

Mat

Yes
Mine does anyway.

Edit: I actually always turn it off on the down motion - maybe it doesn't????

My 67 deluxe self parks? Maybe the motor is from a later mini? It's still only a single speed.

They are ALL supposed to self-park, except 850 with the old square motor.
Not that they do after 35-40 years...
The round motor came in around 1968, had single speed and park. They went to 2 speed and park in 1971, last of the Cooper S got the 2 speed motor. Maybe last Ks too, I'm not sure there.

Thanks for the reply's, I'm sure I'll get used to it the way it is, I was more worried about the upcoming RWC inspection, would this fail the test the way it is?

It depends who tests it. One of our cars doesn't park either, I just park it manually while they watch from outside.

Can a duel speed 76 mdl wiper motor fit on an early car?
As the pivit points are in a differant possy, the motors travel is longer, therefore the blades would travel 2 far and would rub on the body right?

Is there anything that can be done?
Also the mounts would not line up aswell?

I Believe there is something you can do to the later morris 2sp self parking motor. Apparently you remove the cog from the early one and fit it to the later one giving you a 2 speed self-parking later model wiper motor that covers the area as the early ones.

I happen to have an early car with early RH park wipers and a Clubby 2 speed motor. Park doesn't work, and if it did, would be on the wrong side.
Yes they sweep 180*, I've got to fix it somehow.
One way would be swap the wheelboxes, but I dunno if the late ones fit into the early scuttle.
Another would be refit an early motor. I did a mod to get 2 speeds from one of these, years ago. It involved putting a resistor in series with the field circuit.
Can't remember the value, but it worked good.

I pulled to wiper motor out today to see why it wouldn't park, when I unscrewed the teminal block on the back, I found that where the little contacts touch the ring on the back of the large cog, they were all clogged with old hard grease, I gave it all a clean, and it now parks perfectly :D
