Whats the right way for taking out the pin and the bush - I know that you tap them out - but whats the right way. Which one is tapped up and which down and anything else that needs to be done whilst replacing them.

And the gaskets that go bw the hinge and the a panel - I've got the cardboard ones and on one side one of them is starting to crawl up from under the hinge - so the change in pressure is creating a small dent in the door plus I reckon is soaks up moisture - where can I get the rubber type?

The pins tap out UPWARDS (if hinges are in the right place, lol). If you look, one end of pin is bigger than the other.

You can buy the pins and bushes new. I got from MiniSpares UK.

Karcraft has them, gaskets too.

Nobody seems to have had the pins for the last two months - but I've got a few new ones as spares.

Karcraft only have the cardboard gaskets.

If it's crawling up under the hinge, it's probably the wrong hinge... 4 hinges are all different.

I thought you had to make your own rubber type gaskets for the door hinges? At least that's what I am doing.

Also, what causes the dent on the A panel / door from the hinge? My A panels were dented at the hinge, but I thought it was from accident damage, as my drivers door was stoved in when I bought the car.

People get the hinges mixed up. The 2 with big taper are top ones, the other 2 are bottom. And they're LH & RH. Get 'em wrong and things get dented.
Also, the top ones should have tapered washers inside the door, if left out this stuffs the door shape too.

If making rubber ones, use neoprene insertion rubber (with fabric woven in). Won't rot or go hard like natural rubber does. You can get it from Grippy Rubber at Rydalmere, or other rubber places.

hmmmm......good tips there Kev. I have the tapered washers but had no idea exactly which part of which hinge they went on.

I bought rubber from Clarks, but yea I have seen it go hard - Gafmo's wife's 'Morris' has rubber gaskets that have gone hard and cracked.

Yea cheers boys. I've inherited chrome door hinges from the previous owner, Now I'll have to figure out a way to preserve the chrome.

You will probably have to rechrome the hinges, after fitting new pins, if you want to keep the `bling bling' look.
You'll maybe find the problem is not only the pin, but the hole in the middle bit is worn oval. Do you have new bushes for it?

Or you could do what the wally before me did to the hinges... drilled out the pin and put in a bolt in the drivers bottom hinge.
Good thing that at the paint shop they are replacing both hinges drivers side, hey? while ive got them to do rear valance, flares, front left seam cover, and yeah the drivers door hinges.

Yeah mine were stuffed. Had to lift the door when i closed it so it would close. hehe... no more farked hinges!
Should get it back wednesday.
