i know this product is the best when it comes to rust prevention.. but is it any good for deadning of sound ? |

i was planning to put POR 15 under the car... and wheel arches... and deadner in the boot and interior as well as firewall... |

for the underbody i would just recomend some kind of underbody spray i cant rember the one we sprayed a whole moke in it gave it a textured finish all over looks grreat |

lucifer (not at all in an offensive way, i just cant think of your name), my impressions tell me that por15 is paint with hardener in it very hard wearing, shiny, like enamel/glass. the spray on stuff is tar, very tough, flexible, rubbery. normally, the stuff you put on the underside of the body is usually stuff that is tough, rubbery to resist stone chips, and in your case, will absorb vibration and act as a sound deadener. using POR15 for the underside will make it very attractive, however not be very practical |

dont forget you still need somthing under the underbody spray, like an etch primer, dont spray it straight on metal, as if it does crack, moisture gets under it. and, most of them you can paint over again with whatever you like. |

POR-15 is very elastic, it is not just hard paint. It also has much better adhesion to steel than any etch primer. They used to have a picture on the web site of it painted to a small strip of sheet steel. The strip was trwisted around with no adverse affects on the POR-15. Some test results here: http://www.por15.com/SUPPORT/PERFORMANCETESTRESULTS/POR15TESTRESULTS/tabid/155/Default.aspx That said, I have just gone for rust preventative underbody spray on my mini. In some places it is over rust gaurd paint, in other bare steel. I think the rust preventative one have some fish oil in the mix. |

hm... ok well perhaps POR15 isnt out ofthe question yet... im a little unclear on which order to put things.. POR15 first then deadner... im thinking..then primer.. then paint.. |

I don't think you will want to paint over the underbody spray. It's under the car. It seals. It's flexible. You don't see it. |

ive just done my engine bay, i went etch primer, spray on underseal, primer, paint. this worked well, but i cant comment on how well it lasts, i did the same to my sills and valances a year ago and they are still good, and its been thrashed along a gravell road...alot. 666, sinse your car will be black? you dont need to paint over it cos itll all match anyway. |
