If you can stela a dwell tester from your mates, this tells you precisely if it is correct or not.

I have deliberately spent half an hour making sure the gap was spot on (cos I didn't want to go in the house......I was in trouble with the Minister for War and Finances at the time) and then tested with the dwell tester to see if I was spot on. It was meant to be 60 degrees (plus or minus one degree), and I was on 52. You simply attach it to a +ve and then the other lead to the the -ve side of the coil and that is it.
As soon as you adjust the angle you get to the points with the feeler guage (often you need to get around oil coolers or other crap), then your result is skewed, so I simply use the dwell tester these days, it's soooo easy (If you can get one).
