Didn't the Sports 850s come with twin carbs like that? (ie both same handed, not ones without a choke!)

Sure did!
When the W-clips and shafts wore, they were a bastard to synchronise.
I know- I had the setup on my 1st 850... :P

And, the choke only worked on one carb... :?
