Hi all!

Have seen these appearing in MiniWorld and other places recently and was just wondering what people thought about them? Pros? Cons? General thoughts?

Seriously...$500 on a distributor?

The gain in power for the money spent would be non-existant! You could buy a whole new motor for that.

$155 for an Aldon Ignitor pack. Will do the same thin for a 1/3 of the price

Thats a rip - $500 rods for a dizzy is highway robbery(but isnt that what they are about at that mob)

I think you guys might be missing the point of the 123 - yes it's electronic, but it also contains 16 different curves built in which can be selected. So what you have is a dizzy curve that's pretty much garenteed to match your motor, rather than just sticking a standard dizzy on a modified motor which is what most people do.

A better price comparison would be to take your electronic (converted) dizzy of choice to a dizzy specialist and ask them to re-curve it to your motor....then compare prices.....oh and get them to do it again next time you alter your motor.....compare prises again ;)

Further to what smac said you also get a brand new dizzy along with the 16 curves. Its only about $100 more than an Aldon dizzy with ignitor kit fitted (158 pounds). Yes it is expensive but I dont think its a blatant rip off.

Has anyone here built one of those Jacar/Dick Smith programmable ignition kits? They are quite cheap and offer any curve you want. I'm thinking of giving it a go but if someone has had a bad experience (like they are a pr1ck to adjust) than I won't bother.

The 123 dizzy was developed by Marcel in Canada and turned out to be more expensive than he hoped. I spoke to him a few times while he was sorting it out and he was thinking it would end up well under OZ$300. I haven't spoken to him since it has really hit the market but I guess a lot of the retailers have now put their 50% mark up on the retail price and of course if you order one from the UK they would have to take off their VAT (same as our GST except it's 17.5%)

Get onto Marcel's site, it's been mentioned on Ausmini before. Has his own chassis dyno he made and a really nice shed of stuff. Great guy.

I have done alot of reading into this 123 and it is the Beez Kneez of distributors.

Like all ultiamate things it is on the pricey end, but you do get what you pay for. Don't go knocking it over the price of compare it to other devices without having used one yourself and made a direct comparison. I am not saying go and buy one, but I am saying don't knock it either! 8)

If I were building a $5-$7000 powerplant, this would be a cheap item! :wink:

simple: you ask what I think, I think Its "POOH" for that price buy twin SU's an exhaust and a pulsar dizzy it might make a difference.. don't get robbed that's $500 + 100ish postage then your up for Import Tax and GST if it's opened??? Yikes
