Just wondering if anyone with a mini is going to go to the drag racing event at the Tarmac Dragway ( Wherever that is ), on Saturday night. Gates open at 2, racing at 7 pm, apparently. So if there will be some other minis there i might come for race. Apparently it is open to all people, and threre is a free burnout comp. SO is anyone going> |

Well i believe that entry is open to everyone, whether there is age restrictions or rubbish, or CAMS licenses needed, i dont know, but i think anyone can go in drags and the burnout comp. I think?? that the Tarmac Dragway is near Symmons, but not sure. A friend is going to ring a man who knows all about it today, so i will get back to you sometime, But you had better tell all your mini friends, so that I, we have some legitimate, chances of wininng. |

Well after a bit of research, here you go www.tarmakdragway.net, It is in Powranna, Which i have not a clue where is, but its about half way from where i am to Hobart. So you guys had better come, or go, even if i dont take the mini. |

Well living a very sheltered life, I live in Tassie, I had my first ever experience of Drag Racing Yesterday it was. And it was immesely interesting. There were much varietys of cars, and they mostly went fast, And then there was a "Burnout" comp - or let make as much Farking smoke as possible. Well it was a good night, I should have had a video, or at lest a digital camera, there were some great photo chances. But Totally randomly, the organisers pulled out one of the 'drag cars' that do 450km or something, not the long skinny ones, but a sedan version of one. This was totally unexpected by Everyone, it was between eliminations. And this thing was ( no other words suitable can describe it ) Loud? It was the Loudest thing i have ever heard, and if anyone is going to tell me if it was normal, then ill shutup, but it was unbelievable. The entire Island shook, uncontrollably, ( You get the picture - it was Loud ). No minis - we could have beaten a laser and corolla and a couple of Falcons, but it would have still been interesting. Any of you guys go?? Next time we Have to get the Whole mini club of Tas to go and overrun the event, It would be very good. A great and fun night with a massive burnout comp much fun. Only to be interuptted with the news that 5 homes down from the house i am staying at, ahh, two people were found dead, and likely murdered. |

One thing about drag racing. Ya gotta pass scrutineering before yer allowed to race. That includes the car having NO fluid leaks. I reckon we could go to the Anti-Discrimination board over that one.... No one on the planet owns a classic mini without leaks. Either that or ya'd have to drop your oil before ya raced hehehehe. |
