I have just pull a 1380 down for a re-ring and bearings and unsure what these rods are from. They are have 1.625 journals but the part number AEG521 does not show up in any of my parts books. And the numbers on the end caps have been machined off. And also why would the end caps have be machined like this? Thanks Pete |

1275 Cooper S dude. Rods are like that because they have been balanced. Some S rod caps had a recess machined in there, some like yours did not. I have a set of each... ![]() |

Part number AEG520 shows up as the early 1100S rod. BMC sometimes has casting numbers one digit out from the part number, an example being the famous 648 cam with 649 stamped onto it. |

Early 1100S rod and Cooper S were same really, I have a set of each and both are marked 521. Not to be confused with the later 1100S ones (for 1.75" crankpin) with the dirty big lumps on them... |

Yes, the ones shown are in fact early 1100"S" type (small jhournal) & are essentially the same part & part # as cooper"S" but without the "Factory balancing" that the "S"`s got rod caps are AEG145 i believe easy-peasy |

It`s pretty cool really cause the later rods (521s) have the very same cap(145) but don`t swap them over, allways keep the same cap with the same rod!!!!!!!!!!! easy-peasy |
