i have the body number stamped on the radiator shroud it may be on the boday as well on the firewall but not sure cause its cotted in many layers of wo knows what. but the radiator shroud has been cut off but i still have it all i need to do is weld it back on but is there any way of telling what year it is from that???

There is no formal register in Oz like the Heritage one in UK.
If you post the body prefix and most of the number here, people can make an educated guess.
Number sequence started at 501 for each body type- eg 850, Mini Deluxe, Mini K.
Original colour (if known) can help pinpoint the year too.

OK, we're baaaack.. sorry Mick, no fish!
We floated Barney the Pretend S from Sydney to Devonport on the good ship Spirit of Tasmania III, and proceeded to circumnavigate the island in a clockwise direction.
We put over 2000km on him without mechanical problems.
Oil consumption was only 500mL total, we put none in for the whole trip.

The only hiccup was a bit of carby icing up in the snow at Derwent Bridge, on the way to Queenstown- making the throttles stick at part throttle, but that didn't stop our progress at all.
I've never seen this before, but yes it can happen, on SUs at least.

Met up with Camel and MiniMafia at Baskerfield circuit, as he said.
I'll put a few pics up tonite.

Hi guys

it was a great trip. I was definately shaken not stirred.

It was cold, no heater in Barney, it was wet, all the window seals leaked.

But I did have a good time highly recommend it (must have heater hehe)

If you're wondering WHY the window seals leaked, it's because the PO figured he'd save a few bucks during the resto and use old ones.
Never gonna get it wet, well so he thought...

Happens to my Mini every winter, not so nice when you are driving in traffic to find when you lift off throttle the car keeps going  Hence if I ever get that HIF38 together it gets a water heated manifold.

Never had a problem with the Dellorto though.

You're probably better off without a heater if the window seals leak, otherwise it might get a bit humid in there :D

camel appears rather hairy behind that camera, and is wearing the same shirt and hat as in the 'arrrah' video...truly a mystic being! :D
