Does anyone know if it's legal to have a fuel cell mounted in the boot of a road going Mini?? Is it illegal to have to open the boot lid to fuel up??? |

There is lot's of precedents for having to open the boot to fill up, so I would imagine the answer is no it's not illegal. Fuel Cell - not sure but again, wouldn't think so. On my 1964 Renault R8 and 1969 R10 the fuel tank filler is in the engine compartment next to the dizzy! The carby and exhaust is on the other side of the block though, they weren't that stupid. This is on a rear-engined car so it is in effect the equivalent of filling up from under the bonnet. The RTA do have a technical enquiries line for what it is worth, so maybe give them a call or speak to a licensed blue slip garage. KB |
