I say yes , sort of . I think they can be classed as a derivative of sorts as they have a similar design and using very similar components even though most cannot be used in either car . They are still BMC front wheel drive designed and though while they aren't a mini as such they still leak and have dodgy electronics , so they must be close .....

You just wouldn't want to admit to owning one in a public forum

i always thought that the aussie only 1100S was just a mk1 1100/1300 shell badged different for aussie?

the mk1 1300(british) is the same, then the grille and dash got changed? same shell?

My wife has an 1100s - great car - we took it to Hay the year before last, hummed all the way down and since we came down the back way - through West Wyalong - we could take some liberties with speed. It liked cruising across the plains at 80 mph.

The biggest down side is that is a genuinely quick car and when you zoom past someone they almost always say to themselves that "no 1100 is going to leave them for dead" and you either have some fool endangering everyone to get past or they are totally sideways as they overcooked the corner behind you.

Certainly a good car that can be driven with spirit.

The Morris 1300 in Oz was only sold as an automatic. The manual at the time was the POS 1500 OHC lump....
1300 auto blocks work fine on a manual box after a bit of oilway extension drilling.. (see A/A+ mods forum or PM me for details) so get those doorstops out of the woodshed where we can use `em! 8)

yeah the 1100S was just a poor attempt to trade on the Cooper S's fame by throwing a stocko 1275 into an 1100 shell. Should have been called a Morris 1300 from the start, to avoid confusion.

Morris 1100 1100S 1300 are pretty much all gone now, many gave their hearts so that Minis may live. 8)
