Post subject:  **HELP** doing up ball joints

Hi Guys

Any tips on how to get the ball joint housing done up properly. I know it needs to be 72ftlb (previous post by the Doc) but I don't have a vice (apart from alcohol  ) and it is proving pretty hard to get it to the required torque :x .

Any tips very gratefully received.

Cheers

Rick

Don't know why you'd want to use a vice..? to clamp it? :?:

I assume you are using a torque wrench? try using a breaker bar on the end ( a piece of pipe or something to help you persuade it ;))

Hi miniMad. i hvae a torque wrench that is long enough to do up to that torque, the problem is holding the bloody hub to counter the torque wrench :x .

If I had a vice I would clamp the hub in it and then use the torque wrench on it to tighten the ball joint, but I don't
