Post subject: | carby Q |
I have a 1977 clubman with a 1 1/2 SU. I believe that it is robbing me of acceleration under load. Carby has been tuned properly and I am pretty sure that it has something to do with two small hoses coming out the back right hand side (looking at the front of the car). I have never had a carby with these on it before, as I believe it is a late model thing. My question is what do they do? and how can I stop them , or adjust them so that I get my power back! |

If someone could check their late model manual (I only have an early one with me at teh moment), that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, steve |

I have just looked through all my manuals up to the start of the HIF carbies and no sign of the two out lets. It may be of a different type of car. Pete |

Two hoses go back into teh intake manifold (some type of vacuum?). I believe that it is part of the old pollution crap.Where the hoses are there is a small valve that can be pushed in and out, which is attached to the same linkage as the choke. Can the good doc help? |

Problem solved. I took the two hoses off and there was a massive vaccum coming through one. I joined the hoses together at a shorter length and it runs perfect, and way more acceleration. I dont know why (and dont care), but it runs sweet now! ![]() |
